Joining the SIX The SIX is located in Seattle's Westin Building. If you would like to become a tenant of the Westin Building, the phone number is 206-443-1800. If you would like to colocate in the Westin Building, some of the possibilities are listed below. There are a number of extensions connected to the SIX core fabric. The participants web page indicates how each peer is connected. We recommend that you connect directly to the core, as described here, if able. Connections to the SIX core switch are either 1 or 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Single-mode is recommended, although multi-mode may be used for GigE. There is no charge from the SIX for your first GigE port. Due to a limited number of available ports, all requests for multi-GigE or 10GE ports are subject to the following guidelines:
The Westin Building management has pre-wired fiber from the 19th floor fiber-meet-me-room (FMMR) to the SIX rack. They sell of pairs of this fiber for a $200 one-time fee to recoup their costs. If you are a tenant, email telecom _a_t_ westinbldg.com and tell them you need a fiber allocation (specify type) for the SIX. They will then allocate a jack on their panel in the FMMR for you. Once that is done, your tech can run a cross-connect from your panel to the Westin panel. If you are using a colocation provider, your provider will need to do the above. Switch and Data customers connecting to the SIX core, rather than the PAIX SIX extension, should place an order with a "Z-Term Tie Down" of "SIX on the 19th floor". For GigE you will need to provide an SFP (Cisco GLC-LH-SM/GLC-SX-MM or compatible) that matches your connection type. For 10GE you will need to provide an SFP+ (Cisco SFP-10G-LR or compatible). This should be mailed to: Seattle Internet Exchange, Inc. In the case of a GigE connection, an alternative to the SFP requirement is a $100 fee for the SIX to provide one for your port. Payment can be via check to the above or via PayPal (paypal _a_t_ seattleix.net). If paying by PayPal please add 3% to cover the PayPal fees. If you decide to give additional SFPs/SFP+s or additional money, you will be recognized on the contributors page for your added donation. The SIX exists because of donations. Once you are cross-connected and have achieved link, you will need an IP address allocation. To request address space, please complete the following and send it to info _a_t_ seattleix.net: Organization Name: Organization URL (or Peering Policy page if available): ASN: Reverse DNS FQDN: (ex. six.example.net) Tech Name: Tech Email: Tech Phone: NOC Phone: NOC Email: Peering Email: IPv6: (yes or no) Multicast: (yes or no) While waiting for your allocation, please review the config advice here and configure your router and SIX-facing interface accordingly. After you are connected and have your router configured with the IP address, you will probably want to contact the current participants about peering. Don't forget to read and follow the rules! If you have any questions let us know at info _a_t_ seattleix.net. Colocation Providers:
